Staff Accountant

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations and help ensure accurate, timely financial reporting. This role is responsible for general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, journal entries, month-end close activities, and financial recordkeeping.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger accounts.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Process accounts payable, vendor payments, and employee reimbursements.
• Monitor accounts receivable and assist with collections.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Maintain fixed asset and prepaid expense schedules.
• Assist with payroll accounting and related reconciliations.
• Prepare documentation for audits, tax preparation, and reporting.
• Support project accounting, billing, and expense management.
• Identify and implement process improvements and workflow efficiencies.
• Maintain accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Support accounting systems and financial software administration.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 7+ years of accounting experience.
• 3+ years of QuickBooks Desktop experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with project accounting, job costing, or government contracting.
• Experience in DCAA-compliant environments.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online and other financial systems
