SUBSTITUTE NURSES Westfield Public Schools Special Services - Westfield, Massachusetts Job Details Job ID: 4781280 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Starting Date: Immediately Position Type: Part-time Pay Rate: $230.00 per day Job Description JOB SUMMARY: To fulfill the role of School Nurse during his/her absence and may include, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities: Perform treatments and administer daily and PRN medications per medical orders. Maintain up-to-date health records. Assume responsibility for informing faculty and staff of those students with special health problems, as needed. Interpret the health status of a pupil to him/her, the parents, and school personnel without breaching confidentiality. Observe students on a regular basis to determine health needs. Authorize the exclusion and/or re-admission of a student with an infectious disease. Administer first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures. Serve as a health consultant and resource person for the classroom teacher conducting health-related classes when requested as well as teacher health classes. Advise on modification of the education program to meet health needs of the individual student through the Chapter 766 process. Assume authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered injury or emergency illness. Reports to: Building Principal and Administrator of Special Education and Student Support Services This is a temporary position with limited benefits. Job Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed Registered Nurse CPR certified Certified as School Nurse in Massachusetts preferred, but not required.
