About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 3 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, COVID Vaccine Required Must-Have: - Level III trauma experience or higher - Experience in a fast-paced emergency room setting Description: The emergency room has 15 beds, with a 6-bed fast track open from 9 AM to 10 PM. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 to 4, depending on patient acuity. Electronic Medical Record system in use is Cerner (First Net). Charge nurse responsibilities may require taking a small patient load if needed. Nurse aides and unit secretary are available 24/7, with a technician present for 20 hours each day. Weekend requirements entail working every other weekend. Holidays will be included in the permanent staff rotation. The color for scrubs is navy. Central monitoring for patients is provided, with telehealth through Philips. Ventilator management is part of the unit's capabilities. A physician is on-site at all times, with midlevel providers typically available from 9 AM to 2 AM. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. Schedules are created 30 to 45 days in advance. Floating to other units is not required. Floor-specific orientation will occur, lasting 2 to 3 days. Common diagnoses include strokes, abdominal pain, orthopedic injuries, and a significant number of psychiatric patients. The unit averages around 100 patient visits per day, including approximately 500 to 600 pediatric patients each month. Cancellation policy allows for the hospital to cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
