Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a 13-week Med/Surg night shift assignment requiring 2 years of experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit in a hospital setting
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Patient population includes sepsis, CIWA, confusion, AMS, COPD, post-op care, AKI, trauma, respiratory failure, bowel obstruction, pyelonephritis, cardiac conditions, diabetes, GI conditions, isolation, and SI with medical indications
• Uses Epic charting system
• Must be able to work varied shifts and days including weekends and holidays

Requirements

• Active State or Compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• BLS certification required
• 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, port access/management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
• GI skills including bowel obstruction management and colostomy/ileostomy care
• Renal skills including continuous bladder irrigation and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Neurological/psychiatric skills including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, and substance withdrawal management
• Medication administration experience with heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required

• Apply the nursing process across patient age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Document care thoroughly in accordance with regulatory and hospital requirements
• Work in a fast-paced clinical environment that adapts to evolving patient safety standards
• Utilize strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills within a collaborative care team
• Participate in rapid response/code team activities as needed
• Must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
• Former staff must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups will not be accepted for this position
