Athletic Trainer

Provides and coordinates care for patients across the continuum in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, podiatrists and other clinical team members. Provides periodic outreach athletic training medical services to the community. Performs clinical services Performs rooming and age appropriate vitals, reviews medication, allergy, and tobacco history, and documents reason for visit in accordance with established protocols. Gathers complete patient histories and conducts Reviews of Systems, including past medical, surgical, social, and family history. Performs initial patient examinations and summarizes findings and test results to the provider for review and direction. Documents accurately and timely in the electronic medical record. Provides patient care and education before and after encounters or procedures as directed by the provider. Coordinates care activities with physicians and other clinical team members to support efficient patient flow. Assists with specimen collection, labeling, and processing. Administers therapies or treatments as directed by the provider. Follows through to resolve service problems promptly and professionally with involvement of appropriate clinic personnel. Communicates with providers and clinical team members to organize and prioritize assigned work to support patient care. Applies and removes casts and splints according to established procedures. Provides basic patient education on cast, splint, and DME care. Fits DME and provides instruction on proper uses Completes required documentation and billing paperwork accurately. Provides injury prevention and coordination to student athletes Provides support and care through attendance at practices and games as outlined by Outreach or Organization contracts. Coordinates the clinical access of the injured athlete. Supervises the conditioning and/or rehabilitation of the student athlete in the Outreach setting. Acts as a member of the care team in the athletic clinic setting. Maintains records on students treated for injuries. Assesses and reports environmental risks or equipment malfunctions. Requirements Master's degree in Athletic Training required OR Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training prior to 2022 Basic proficiency in electronic medical record documentation Experience in an orthopedic, sports medicine, or outpatient clinical setting Licensed Athletic Trainer - MN Board of Medical Practice required if providing services in MN upon hire Licensed Athletic Trainer - WI Dept of Safety & Professional Services required if providing services in WI upon hire Certified Athletic Trainer - Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer required upon hire Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below: BLS certification from the American Heart Association BLS certification from the American Red Cross Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire) Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in patient care coordination, clinical documentation, and injury prevention within orthopedic and sports medicine settings.
