Software Engineer, Performance Benchmarking

DescriptionThe Role: You will be a part of the Ampere Performance Analysis & Competitive benchmarking team tasked with analyzing and optimizing performance across a wide range of software applications on Ampere hardware platforms.What you’ll do:You will be responsible for working with a cross-functional performance team to:Establish performance baselines for industry standard and customer critical workloadsDetermine system configuration that delivers the best performance on Ampere platformsAnalyze performance bottlenecks in the software stack/HW design impacting performanceImplement optimizations to help achieve performance targetsOptimize open source or customer software stacks to optimally exploit Ampere design advantagesWhat you’ll bring:BS with 3+ years or MS with 1+ years of experience in Data Center software performance benchmarking and optimizationExperience with industry standard benchmarks such as SPEC CPU 2017 and SPECjbb2015 preferredExperience with Windows and Linux kernel development and optimizationExperience delivering software optimizations in large-scale software stacksExperience with performance benchmarking and code profilers like perf and VTuneHands-on coding capabilities in common languages such as C/C++, Python, and JavaKnowledge of software/hardware co-design for 64-bit ARMv8 architectureExperience with any applications common to cloud deployments preferred, such as: Front end web applications, Relational/NoSQL databases, Data Analytics, Search, Storage, Network, and Media/GraphicsFamiliarity with Jira or other issue management tools and/or familiarity with git preferredStrong verbal and written communication skillsPrevious work with Cloud Service Providers is a strong plusEducation: BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field of studyPerks in RaleighCompetitive compensation and benefits packageModern and open office settingFour miles of jogging and pedestrian trailsWalking distance to various restaurants and shoppingHealthy snacks, espresso, and drinksAdjustable sit-stand desksUnlimited Flextime and 10+ paid holidays Our CompanyAmpere is designing the future of hyperscale cloud and edge computing with the world’s first cloud native processor.
