Senior Developer – Socotra/DXC In Progressive Life, you’ll play a role in building, integrating, and scaling the technology ecosystem that supports our life insurance business. You’ll apply your knowledge of life insurance platforms, including Socotra and DXC Assure, and the ability to connect modern JavaScript application development with complex policy administration, product configuration, data flows, vendor integrations, and downstream operational needs. Working within a cross‑functional team, you’ll provide creative technical direction and problem‑solving across projects at various stages of their life cycles. You’ll develop new features, refine and maintain existing ones, and write unit tests and documentation for ongoing development and maintenance. You’ll partner closely with designers, UX, product strategists, test engineers, technical leads, developers, and third‑party vendors to ensure a shared understanding of product needs, platform dependencies, and implementation impacts. You’ll also help promote consistent architectural patterns across projects and Level20 while leveraging your experience to debug complex applications, optimize best practices, and support the continued growth of Progressive Life’s specialized life insurance technology landscape. Progressive Life began within Level20, Progressive’s growth incubator, where we built a term life insurance product and business from the ground up. After a successful launch and early growth, we’ve spun out into the Strategy group, now focused on scaling our products, capabilities, and impact. You’ll be joining the organization at a pivotal moment as we advance our transition to Agile delivery, leading the adoption and execution of Scrum practices across teams. This is a hybrid role at Progressive headquarters campus, 300 North Commons Blvd, Mayfield Village, Ohio 44143. If you live within 45 miles, you’ll work in our office Tuesday and Wednesday and you’ll have the option to work remotely Monday, Thursday, and Friday. If you live more than 45 miles away, you may work remotely except you’ll work in our office every 4–6 weeks, Tuesday and Wednesday. You may travel Monday and Thursday as necessary. Must Have Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an Information Technology discipline or related field of study and a minimum of four years of related work experience designing, programming, and supporting software programs and applications. In lieu of the above, a high school diploma, GED, or higher and a minimum of six years of related work experience designing, programming, and supporting software programs or applications. Preferred Skills Demonstrated expertise in life insurance platform development involving Socotra and DXC Assure. Experience in React with other JavaScript ES6 concepts and use within a modern JavaScript‑based framework such as Vue or Angular. Experience in Node, Java and other server‑side programming (Go, Rust, C#, Python), DevOps (IaC, CI/CD, containerization), and GraphQL. Experience with both RDBMS (Postgres) and NoSQL database technologies. Experience working within an AWS cloud environment. Compensation $118,000—$137,000 per year depending on experience.
