Job Summary Directs nursing care for patients and supervises the day‑to‑day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Such supervision is in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations governing our nursing center, and any directives from the Administrator, the Medical Director, or the Director of Nursing Services to provide appropriate care for our patients. Attendance Requirements Non‑exempt status: may be required to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary. Subject to callback during any emergency. Accountability Reports to Director of Nursing Services. Education Requirements Nursing degree from an accredited college or university or graduate of an approved LPN program as evidenced by primary source verification. Licensure Requirements Current LPN or RN License in the state of Georgia. American Heart Association BLS CPR required. Training, Skills and Experience Requirements Preferred experience in nursing administration. Primary Activity Requirements Physical Requirements: Lift: up to 10 lbs. – Rarely; 11‑25 lbs. – Rarely; 26‑40 lbs. – Not required; over 40 lbs. – Frequently (may use Hoyer lift). Carry: up to 10 lbs. – Rarely; 11‑25 lbs. – Rarely; 26‑40 lbs. – Not required; over 40 lbs. – Not required. Reach: above shoulder height – 4 ft.; at shoulder height – Constantly; below shoulder height – Occasionally. Push/Pull: 20 ft. Hand manipulation: grasping – Frequently; handling – Constantly; fingering – Occasionally; computer use – Occasionally; telephone use – Occasionally. Controls & Equipment: blood pressure gauge, thermometer, stethoscope, hydroxulator, Hoyer lift (hydraulic system), splints, trap, wheelchair, exercise wheel, parallel bars, transfer belt, walkers, canes, free weights, Restor bikes, suction machine, IV pumps, tube feeding equipment, TENS unit, specialty beds. May need to move Clinitron bed (300 lbs.). Other Physical Considerations: twisting – Occasionally; bending – Frequently; squatting – Occasionally; others – Not required. During an 8‑hour day, the associate sits 2 hrs., stands 2 hrs., walks 2 hrs.; work surface varies. Cognitive and Sensory Requirements: talking – Necessary; hearing – Necessary; sight – Necessary; tasting & smelling – Smelling required for accurate maintenance and detection of wounds, urinary tract problems, etc. Summary of Occupational Exposures Tasks may involve potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious disease, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals. May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, associates, and visitors. Other Considerations and Requirements Associate must tolerate a high pace typical for a nursing center, take and give instructions well, and enjoy working with the elderly. Must be able to sit while charting but also tolerate prolonged standing and walking.
