Position Overview

Opportunity for an Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Cardiologist at our organization. We invite you to become a vital part of our team and positively impact the lives of patients with ACHD.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional outpatient and inpatient care to ACHD patients.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to create personalized treatment strategies.
  • Engage in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows in pediatric cardiology and adult cardiovascular diseases.
  • Contribute to ongoing research projects.
  • Participate in advocacy efforts for ACHD at both state and national levels.
Facility and Program Details

Our organization hosts the largest ACHD program in Arizona, recognized as the only ACHA Accredited Comprehensive Care Center in the state. The program includes:

  • 24 cardiologists
  • 13 cardiac intensivists
  • 3 cardiovascular surgeons
  • 24 advanced practice providers

We provide ambulatory cardiac services throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area and have outreach clinics across greater Arizona. Our organization is among the largest pediatric health systems in the nation, serving as a premier destination for pediatric care in the Southwest. Inpatient ACHD care is provided at our facility and in partnership with Dignity-St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, a major academic medical center featuring the renowned Norton Thoracic and Barrow Neurologic Institutes. The selected candidate will play a crucial role alongside the Heart Center teams at both locations.

Qualifications
  • M.D. or equivalent qualification.
  • Board certified or eligible in Pediatric Cardiology by the American Board of Pediatrics.
  • Board certified or eligible in Adult Congenital Heart Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Arizona.

Our organization is affiliated with the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix. ACHD cardiologists will hold academic positions within the divisions of Child Health and Internal Medicine.

Position DutiesPatient Care Services
  • Deliver patient care services for which you are clinically privileged, including but not limited to:
    • Direct patient care on both inpatient and outpatient bases.
    • Subspecialty consultations and follow-up care.
    • Diagnostic and therapeutic services/procedures.
    • Urgent/emergent care as required.
  • Aim for optimal patient and family-centered care.
  • Support hospital patient satisfaction goals and division-specific targets.
  • Adhere to divisional patient safety and quality care standards.
  • Practice contemporary evidence-based medicine.
Divisional Responsibilities
  • Set and strive to meet annual goals and objectives for yourself and the division.
  • Support medical education initiatives, including:
    • Supervising trainees and allied health professionals in delivering care.
    • Conducting teaching rounds, lectures, and conferences.
    • Participating in the education of trainees and allied health professionals.
    • Engaging in postgraduate continuing education activities.
  • Support the division's research initiatives.
  • Contribute to the growth of the division.
  • Assist with satellite efforts of the division when appropriate.

    • Effective communication via phone, computer, or other devices.
    • Ability to fulfill after-hours or night call responsibilities as necessary.
    • Consistent attendance during scheduled work hours.
