Position Details Physical Therapist (Per Diem, Day Shift) – Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Newark, NJ. Req #: 0000233078. Pay: $72.10 per hour. Job Overview The Physical Therapist is responsible for providing patient care and mentorship to staff, assisting with orientation and clinical competency training, monitoring caseloads, and performing administrative duties as needed. The role serves as a clinical resource and demonstrates advanced clinical skills in the assessment and treatment of patients. Qualifications Required: Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy Program Active NJ Physical Therapy Licensure BLS certification through American Heart Association Successful completion of all orientation programs Preferred: APTA Member CI Certification by APTA Certifications and Licenses Required NJ Physical Therapy Licensure BLS certification through American Heart Association Scheduling Requirements Per Diem Essential Functions Develop individualized treatment programs based on evaluation findings, focusing on time‑oriented, functional, and measurable short‑ and long‑term goals. Prepare precise documentation such as progress notes, reassessments, and discharge summaries according to policy and procedures; submit in a timely manner to support continued skilled physical therapy. Participate in discharge planning throughout the patient’s course of care; address problem areas appropriately. Independently meet productivity requirements on a consistent basis. Distribute patients to staff and ensure all patients are assigned and seen in a timely manner. Orientate therapists to designated rotation, providing instruction regarding treatment protocols and use of equipment. Assist with program development and quality improvement. Attend family meetings and conferences pertaining to the welfare and management of assigned patients. Assist clinical department with identification, coordination, and execution of organizational clinical specific projects. Assist with policy and procedure development. Maintain good communication with clinical supervisor and staff to ensure integration of clinical and operational functions. Partner with the supervisor to identify clinical staff development and education needs. Participate in committee meetings as needed and sit on committee boards as they pertain to the department. Supervise and onboard students; participate in the maintenance of student programs. Perform related duties as required. Demonstrate flexibility with job responsibilities in all areas. Incorporate an understanding of economic factors in delivery of services and maintain compliance with productivity standards of the department as specified in the staffing plan.
