The Residential Youth Counselor on JCCA's Residential Treatment Campus, builds strong, positive relationships with youth, ensuring they feel safe, supported, and empowered within a therapeutic campus community.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and guidance to youth in residential cottages, on campus, and in the community
• Lead and participate in therapeutic, recreational, and skill-building activities
• Transport and accompany youth to appointments, home visits, and community outings
• Support daily routines including hygiene, meals, organization, and school readiness
• Teach and reinforce essential life skills such as emotional regulation, communication, accountability, and self-care
• Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating healthy boundaries and respectful communication
• Build strengths-based, trusting relationships through encouragement and consistency
• Utilize crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe environment
• Partner with clinicians, team members, and families to support treatment goals
• Complete required documentation including daily logs and incident reports

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred)
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Ability to pass background checks
• Strong interest in working with youth and young adults in a residential setting
• Valid NY, NJ, or CT driver's license preferred

Salary: $18.50 -$23.00 ***differential offered for driver license and overnight shifts
