Electronic Resources Librarian

The Electronic Resources Librarian (ERL) is a key position in the Acquisitions & Collection Development (ACD) department of the William H. Hannon Library, focused on managing licensed electronic resources and enhancing library users' access to licensed and open electronic resources. The incumbent also manages the library's continuing resources in all formats. This position works with the Collection Development Librarian and the Acquisitions Librarian - and guides the work of the Electronic Resources Assistant - to develop collection strategy, policies, and workflows to provide seamless, reliable, and user-friendly access to library electronic resources, while providing sound collection management and effective stewardship of library resources. The position also collaborates closely across library departments to meet our shared mission of supporting the research, teaching, and learning needs of our faculty and students and promoting open and equitable access to scholarly information. The Electronic Resources Librarian reports to the Head of Acquisitions & Collection Development.
Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities Primary Responsibilities- Manage full lifecycle of electronic and continuing resources: participate in selection and de-selection; coordinate demos/trials and manage feedback needed for decision making; lead license negotiation, review license terms, and support relevant LMU offices in final approval of contracts; activate resources in library systems to make them accessible to the LMU community; resolve problems related to e-resource access, communicating with vendors and library staff about such problems and their resolution; maintain detailed vendor, resource, and license data in the electronic resource management system.
- Develop, support, and promote library initiatives related to emerging digital content, including open access resources: integrate relevant open materials into library e-resource workflows to enhance awareness and effective use of electronic resources; manage and support transformative agreements and promote them to the campus community; work with WHH liaisons to support faculty in their use of open resources; participate as part of team supporting library and campus Open Educational Resource (OER) initiatives.
- Collaborate in developing and managing effective workflows for gathering usage and other metrics related to e-resources; lead efforts to analyze this data to support collection decisions and the library's goal of thoughtful and informed stewardship of university resources.
- Develop library policies and workflows for continuations; manage department staff and students in the acquisition, receiving, claiming, and maintenance of continuations; in coordination with Collections Management department, develop appropriate retention and withdrawal procedures for physical serials collections.
- Train, mentor, and support the work of the Electronic Resources Assistant and, as appropriate, the Receiving Assistant and department work-study students.
- Participate in professional responsibilities as required, including liaison responsibilities for selected subject areas, and library and university committee work.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Required Qualifications
- A Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to anticipate and adapt to changes related to electronic resources.
- Minimum of two years of professional academic library experience, with extensive experience in library resource acquisition, licensing, and management. Experience managing electronic resources and/or acquisitions in Ex Libris Alma/Primo.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
- Strong project management skills and experience developing workflows and writing procedures.
- Knowledge of scholarly communication issues, open access, intellectual property and copyright issues, and emerging trends in scholarly publishing.
- Awareness of accessibility guidelines for digital content.
- Ability to analyze budgetary, usage, and other data to inform assessment and collection development decisions.
- Exemplary written, oral, and presentation communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to win the trust and confidence of faculty, librarians, and other library staff and to work effectively and collaboratively in a team-based organization.
- Ability to represent the department, the library, and the institution effectively through contact with users, library vendors, library consortia, and professional organizations.
Hiring Salary Range This position is exempt, with a minimum starting salary of $94,300. The offer will be dependent on experience and determined in conjunction with an internal pay equity assessment.
