Emergency Veterinarian

Emergency Veterinarian – Premier Veterinary Group, Mundelein, IL Premier Veterinary Group, located in Mundelein, Illinois, seeks an experienced Emergency Veterinarian to join our team. Our hospital sits between Chicago and Milwaukee, offering an excellent work‑life balance with a 12‑shift per month schedule and only 3 paid work days per week. What We Need At least 2 years of emergency experience or completion of an internship. Clinical expertise in stabilizing and treating urgent cases such as GDV, respiratory distress, polytrauma, and acute neurological events. Strong procedural skills: POCUS, wound repair, NG tube placement, CPR. Diagnostic judgement interpreting radiographs, labs, and ECGs in real time. Leadership and triage skills – monitoring caseloads, making swift decisions, and guiding support staff. Collaborative approach with specialists and technicians. Mentorship mindset – coaching externs and ER technicians. Clear, empathetic client communication. Responsibilities Triage and stabilize patients, performing emergency procedures. Interpret diagnostic imaging and lab results to guide treatment. Coordinate care with specialists and support staff. Communicate with clients regarding diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis. Mentor and train externs and ER technicians. Shifts & Schedule Full‑Time: 12 shifts per month, overnights only or a combination of overnight and swing shifts. Per‑Diem: day, swing, or overnight shifts; weekday and weekend shifts available based on PTO/sick leave, and the team is open to expanding the ER relief pool. Flexible start dates and no non‑compete clause. Benefits & Compensation Salaries start at $165,000+ (based on experience) – top‑of‑market 25% production.
