Dean of Students

Dean of Students Full Time Equivalent: 1.0 FTE Start Date: August 31, 2026 Rate of Pay: $49,792 - $103,062 per year Terms of Employment: Per PLSEA collective bargaining agreement. Reports To: Principal and Assistant Principal Job Goals Management of Student Discipline Process and Student Attendance System. Performance Responsibilities Responsible for the student discipline and behavior management system, in cooperation with Counselors. Manages student attendance system in cooperation with the Attendance Coordinator. Monitors and ensures staff compliance with student attendance taking procedures. Oversees In‑School Suspension and Loss of Privilege study hall programs and communicates program needs and expectations with staff assigned to these areas of supervision. Oversees supervision of lunchroom and directs staff assigned to lunch duty. Member of the Student Assistance Team. Works with the School Resource Officer on matters related to student criminal conduct and other disciplinary issues such as harassment and safety. Interprets school discipline and attendance policies and procedures and communicates them to students, parents/guardians, and the community. Communicates with parents/guardians regarding individual student disciplinary action as required by law or to advance the goals of the discipline system. Works with guidance staff to seek alternative forms of education for students who cannot function effectively in the regular school environment. Works with the Chemical Health Coordinator, Student Support Specialist, and Activities Director in matters related to student use of alcohol, tobacco, or drugs. Attends after‑school student events and activities as needed. Supervises the Campus Supervisor, Attendance Coordinator, and secretarial staff working on student discipline and attendance matters. Serves as Building Principal in the absence of the Principal and Assistant Principal. Performs all other duties directed by the Principal or Assistant Principal. Qualifications At least three years of successful experience as a secondary‑level classroom teacher preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
