Family Support Specialist, Positive Parenting Program (Family Services Division)

Founded in 1991, Amigos For Kids is a Miami-based nonprofit dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect by valuing children, strengthening families, and educating communities. Amigos For Kids moves its mission forward through its education, awareness, and advocacy programs aimed at helping families in under-resourced communities thrive.

The Family Support Specialist reports to the Senior Director of Family Services and Program Coordinator. This individual will work with the Senior Counselors, Counselors, and the Program Coordinator to provide childcare services for children of participating parents/families during the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program in-person sessions. The Family Support Specialist provides two to three hours of childcare during live parenting sessions.

Essential Functions:

• Assists with the recruitment of program participants
• Assists participants with completion of program-related forms
• Provides childcare during live parenting sessions
• Provides support with logistics of program sessions
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED with a minimum of two years of experience working with, or assisting, at-risk children and families in a community setting. Must have knowledge of infant and child development. Must possess strong listening skills with a non-judgmental, empathetic attitude, and be able to communicate effectively with children and parents. Must be bilingual (English/Spanish). Must be willing to work flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekends. Must have a valid driver's license and have own transportation.
