JOB SUMMARY :

Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 11 AM - 6 PM

The Courier plays an important role in supporting the daily operations of Clin-Path Diagnostics by safely and securely transporting pathology specimens, slides, mail, supplies, and other materials between client sites, Clin-Path Diagnostics, and off-site pathologists.

This position is also responsible for maintaining assigned courier vehicles, providing professional customer service, and serving as a liaison between Clin-Path Diagnostics and its clients. Couriers are expected to maintain a professional appearance and provide a positive representation of Clin-Path Diagnostics while interacting with clients and other external contacts.

Company vehicles and cell phones will be provided. Uniform shirts and jackets will be provided; employees are responsible for providing appropriate slacks or shorts and shoes.

This position may include the following responsibilities:

• Picking up pathology specimens from client locations

• Safely and securely transporting specimens to the Clin-Path Diagnostics laboratory

• Delivering slides, mail, and other materials to off-site pathologists

• Delivering supplies to clients

• Maintaining assigned courier vehicles

• Ensuring regular vehicle maintenance is completed

• Washing and vacuuming courier vehicles on a regular basis

• Providing professional customer service to Clin-Path clients

• Acting as a liaison between clients and Clin-Path Diagnostics' marketing staff

• Maintaining communication with the Logistics and Facilities Manager regarding routes, schedules, vehicle needs, and client concerns

• Following all company policies and procedures

• Handling biohazardous specimens in accordance with established safety procedures

• Maintaining confidentiality when handling patient specimens and related materials

Employees are responsible for following all company policies and procedures. These policies and procedures include adherence to applicable regulatory standards, including HIPAA, CAP, CLIA, OSHA, bloodborne pathogen requirements, hazardous waste procedures, and all applicable safety standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to:

• Picks up pathology specimens from client sites and delivers them safely, securely, and confidentially to the Clin-Path Diagnostics laboratory for processing and analysis.

• Delivers slides, mail, and other materials to off-site pathologists.

• Delivers client supplies as assigned.

• Maintains assigned courier vehicles and ensures required routine maintenance is performed.

• Ensures courier vehicles are washed and vacuumed on a regular basis.

• Provides professional and courteous customer service to Clin-Path clients.

• Acts as a liaison between clients and Clin-Path Diagnostics' marketing staff.

• Communicates with the Logistics and Facilities Manager regarding courier schedules, routes, vehicle maintenance, and other operational needs.

• Follows established procedures for the safe and secure transportation of pathology specimens.

• Maintains confidentiality when handling patient specimens and related information.

• Follows all applicable safety procedures when handling biohazardous specimens.

• Completes required bloodborne pathogen and hazardous waste training.

• Participates in an annual Defensive Driving Class.

• Maintains a clean and professional appearance while representing Clin-Path Diagnostics.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT :

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds routinely.

• Must have excellent customer service skills.

• Must understand and follow established biohazardous specimen handling requirements.

• Must complete required bloodborne pathogen and hazardous waste training.

• Must maintain a clean and presentable appearance while on the job.

• Must maintain a clean driving record.

• Must participate in an annual Defensive Driving Class.

• Must be able to work independently and self-direct while completing assigned routes and responsibilities.

• Must maintain attention to detail when handling patient specimens, supplies, and other materials.

• May be exposed to biological specimens, biohazardous materials, and other hazards associated with the transportation of pathology specimens.

• Must follow all applicable safety procedures and use appropriate precautionary measures when required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

• Current Arizona driver's license required.

• Clean driving record required.

• No moving violations within the past 3 years.

• Ability to work independently and self-direct.

• Ability to provide excellent customer service.

• Ability to safely and securely transport pathology specimens and other materials.

• Ability to understand and adhere to biohazardous specimen handling requirements.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling patient specimens and related materials.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds routinely.

• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or approved vaccination exemption.

• Ability to successfully complete required bloodborne pathogen and hazardous waste training.

• Ability to successfully participate in annual Defensive Driving training.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the duties of this job. This position involves regular travel between client locations, the Clin-Path Diagnostics laboratory, and off-site pathologist locations.

Employees may encounter biological specimens, biohazardous materials, and other potential hazards associated with the transportation and handling of pathology specimens. Appropriate precautionary measures and safety procedures must be followed at all times.

As a client-facing position, employees are expected to maintain a professional appearance, wear a clean and presentable uniform, and provide courteous and professional customer service while representing Clin-Path Diagnostics.
