Travel ICU RN Job Details

• Position: ICU Registered Nurse (RN) / Critical Care RN, with cardiac or CVICU experience preferred
• Location: Decatur, Illinois
• Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• End Date: February 15, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000–$2,100
• Schedule: 36 hours per week; three 12-hour shifts per week
• Shift: Nights, approximately 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
• Unit: 20-bed adult ICU with typical patient ratios of 1:2; ratios may vary based on assignment and acuity
• Weekend Expectation: Every other weekend
• Call: Not required
• Charting: Cerner
• Additional Scheduling Information: Floating within scope may be required, and schedule requests should be discussed in advance

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license in hand at the time of submission
• Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU or adult critical care nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications from an accepted provider
• Cardiac ICU or CVICU travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience with cardiac devices such as Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump, or temporary pacing is strongly preferred
• Strong adult critical care assessment, prioritization, and emergency response skills
• Ability to float within clinical scope and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
• Experience with Cerner or another electronic health record system preferred

Critical Care Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adults with complex cardiac, respiratory, neurologic, renal, and multisystem conditions
• Interpret dysrhythmias, obtain 12-lead EKGs, and respond to changes in cardiac status
• Care for patients before and after cardiac catheterization, interventions, ablations, and other cardiac procedures
• Manage patients requiring cardiac and vasoactive medication infusions, continuous IV sedation, and emergency medications
• Perform arterial line, central line, PICC, CVP, blood product, and IV therapy management
• Provide care for ventilated patients and assist with BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, airway suctioning, ventilator management, and ABG interpretation
• Support care involving chest tubes, temporary pacing, defibrillation, Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump, hypothermia protocols, and other critical care equipment
• Recognize and respond to stroke, cardiogenic shock, respiratory failure, renal failure, pulmonary embolism, gastrointestinal bleeding, and other emergent conditions
• Participate in code blue and rapid response events while maintaining infection prevention and isolation precautions
• Communicate effectively with providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rapid response teams, and other members of the care team
