Post-Press Operator, Bindery Systems

$24 per hour

PrideStaff (Portland)

Job Description

Job Description

Ready to Finish What Starts on Press?

Do you enjoy turning stacks of printed signatures into clean, finished pieces? Can you move confidently between a saddle stitcher, a die-cutter, and a large trimmer—keeping accuracy and throughput in balance? If so, this Post-Press Operator, Bindery Systems role might be your next step.

We began as a quick-print shop and have grown into a leading local print production operation—proof that craftsmanship and adaptability never go out of style.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM | Pay: Starting at $24/hour, depending on direct experience

Imagine Your First Week

You learn our specs, safety practices, and quality checkpoints. You set up the saddle stitch machine to drive staples precisely through the centerfold of signatures for magazines and other slim publications. You switch gears to run die-cuts for unique shapes and embellishments, then trim press sheets to exact dimensions. Along the way, you perform routine maintenance, clean parts, and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues—keeping runs smooth and on target.

Your Impact
  • Operate and fine-tune production equipment—printers, binders, and trimmers—to meet detailed specifications
  • Lead saddle stitch operations for high-quality, professional finishes
  • Execute die-cutting for specialty pages and decorative elements
  • Trim to uniform sizes with a large-format cutter
  • Maintain independent quality checks and accurate quantity counts
  • Flag and escalate equipment malfunctions promptly
  • Support other production stations when priorities change
  • Work efficiently with a positive, solutions-first attitude; learn new tasks and adjust workflows as volumes shift
What It Takes
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial/industrial print production experience with positive references
  • At least 1 year operating bindery machines; saddle stitching strongly preferred
  • Track record of accuracy under fast-paced conditions
  • Ability to consistently lift 40 pounds
  • Comfort sitting or standing for extended periods and repeatedly bending, turning, twisting, and lifting
  • Ability to use digital and technical systems for production, inventory, and workflow tracking
  • Collaborative, respectful approach to working with teammates across experience levels and backgrounds
Skills & Tools
  • Mechanical troubleshooting
  • Large format graphics knowledge
  • Binding expertise—especially saddle stitch

Machines & Technologies: Large format printing equipment; graphic & signage finishing equipment
