School Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Stepping Stones Group is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a contracted, school-based placement in Denver, CO for the 26/27 school year! This is a full-time private duty/1:1 role supporting a local K-12 district with nursing services. The ideal candidate is skilled and confident working with pediatric trach and vent patients and preferably has school-based PDN experience.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Active RN License in CO
• Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN program
• Current BLS CPR/AED certification
• Pediatric experience required

• Demonstrated competency in the specific skills required for the assigned student including trach and vent management, seiz ure management - competent with seizure action plans and rescue medication, tube feedings, pediatric diabetic care, oxygen and airway management, medication administration, catheterization

• Ability to work independently in a non-clinical environment
• School-based experience highly preferred

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations
• Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, families, therapists, and healthcare providers
• Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation
• Prior school-based experience highly preferred

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Maintain continuous observation of assigned student throughout the school day
• Support chronic condition management and assist with medical procedures as outlined in care plans
• PDN's will be responsible for any airway care needed for their client including proper tracheal suctioning and airway management, as needed trach care and trach tie changes, inhaler and nebulizer treatments, emergency care and emergency trach changes
• Provide first aid and medication administration
• Document care and communicate with school teams

• Accompany student during transportation and community-based activities when assigned
• Communicate significant status changes to family, school staff, and clinical leadership
