We are seeking an experienced Materials Manager to oversee purchasing, inventory, logistics, and order administration. This role supports the Sales Department by coordinating with Operations, Supply Chain, warehouse staff, and customers to ensure materials move efficiently from purchase through final delivery.

The Materials Manager will directly supervise a small warehouse team of employees responsible for shipping, receiving, inventory transactions, cycle counts, and other material handling activities. This role focuses on establishing priorities, developing efficient processes, and ensuring the team has the resources and direction needed to execute daily operations successfully.

The Materials Manager will be responsible for creating and managing sales orders, purchase orders, packing slips, inventory transactions, and related documentation that supports daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the complete purchasing process, including creation, tracking, and follow-up of supplier purchase orders.
• Create and process customer sales orders while ensuring accurate documentation and timely order entry.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics to ensure on-time deliveries and efficient material flow.
• Lead and develop a small team of warehouse associates responsible for shipping, receiving, inventory transactions, cycle counts, and general material handling activities.
• Establish daily priorities, provide coaching, and ensure warehouse operations are executed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate inventory records through transaction management, cycle counting, and inventory reconciliation.
• Monitor supplier performance, lead times, and shipment status while proactively communicating delays or potential risks.
• Work closely with Sales and Operations to provide accurate inventory availability, shipment updates, and order status.
• Manage shipping documentation, carrier selection, and logistics vendors to ensure cost-effective and reliable transportation.
• Serve as a primary administrative support for purchasing, order management, inventory, and shipping activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, purchasing processes, reporting, and overall supply chain performance.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in Materials Management, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Inventory Control, and/or Logistics.
• Previous experience supervising or leading warehouse, logistics, or materials personnel.
• Strong experience with inventory management principles, purchasing, and material planning.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using business systems such as ERP software for purchasing, inventory, and order management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
• Experience working within a Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) environment.
• Experience managing inbound and outbound logistics providers, freight carriers, and transportation vendors.
• Experience communicating and coordinating with international suppliers, particularly in Asia.
• Working knowledge of domestic and international shipping documentation and logistics processes.
• Experience developing or improving operational processes and standardized workflows.
