Part-Time Lifeguard PositionThe City of Cortez is hiring a part-time Lifeguard to help keep our aquatic facility safe, welcoming, and ready for the public. This entry-level role exists to protect patrons through attentive surveillance and prompt action when issues arise. Key responsibilities include:Monitoring swimmers and enforcing pool rules consistentlyPreventing incidents through proactive scanning and clear communicationResponding to emergencies, providing rescues, first aid, and CPR as neededCompleting routine safety checks and maintaining readiness of rescue equipmentRequired qualifications/skills:Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training/First Aid certificationCurrent American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer certificationAbility to pass pre-employment lifeguarding skills/knowledge testingAbility to sit or stand for extended periodsAt least 15 years of ageIf you’re ready to bring focus and professionalism to a public-safety role, apply to become a Lifeguard in Cortez.Sick leave is provided, giving you paid time off when you’re ill or need to recover.A typical shift involves arriving a bit early to get settled, checking in with the team, and taking your position. Shifts vary, so some days are steady and quiet while others are busy with families and lap swimmers. You’ll rotate breaks, stay alert to changing activity levels, and document notes from the shift. When something unexpected happens, you’ll move quickly and stay calm, then reset and continue supporting a smooth experience for everyone on deck.
