Supervisor - Police Operations (Dallas Police) (Civil Service)

Supervisor – Police Operations (Dallas Police) City of Dallas is hiring a Supervisor – Police Operations (Civil Service) to oversee, support, administer, and coordinate general police operations and to participate in fiscal management and budget development for the department. Responsibilities Supervise, monitor, support, and facilitate the operations and administrative activities for the police department. Train, develop, motivate, and evaluate personnel performing recruitment, benefits administration, training, employee relations, customer service, and law enforcement support. Research and develop responses to inquiries and concerns from external agencies and departments; conduct and participate in special projects and ensure transparency in police operations. Research and analyze data to formulate projects, plans, surveys, reports, strategies, forecasts, and trends; assist in maintaining systems and software to support activities and operations. Participate in the development and implementation of budgets; track and monitor expenditures and other costs related to police and law enforcement activities and services, including operational efficiency. Interpret, develop, implement, and provide advice, counsel, and guidance regarding policies and procedures impacting operations and activities. Prepare financial and operational analysis to support decision making. Perform any and all other work as needed or assigned. Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures. Knowledge of City policies and procedures. Knowledge of customer service and collaboration. Knowledge of police operations and general administration. Knowledge of police department practices. Ability to perform a wide range of operational oversight functions in support of the department. Ability to effectively manage, facilitate, and coach employees and management through complex and difficult issues. Ability to identify problems, make recommendations to resolve, and influence decision making. Ability to set high personal goals and work independently. Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, or other law enforcement field. Experience Two years of experience in law enforcement administration, public administration, or other related work. Two (2) years of supervisory responsibilities. Equivalencies High school diploma or GED plus six (6) years of the required experience including two (2) years of supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements. Associate degree in any field plus four (4) years of the required experience including two (2) years of supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements. Bachelor’s degree or higher in a non‑specified field plus four (4) years of the required experience including two (2) years of supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements. Master’s degree or higher in a specified field including two (2) years of supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements. Other Requirements Must be able to obtain a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification. Must pass an intensive background investigation and drug test. No felony or Class A misdemeanor convictions. No Class B misdemeanor convictions within the last ten (10) years. No family violence convictions. Cannot currently be on deferred adjudication for any felony, Class A, or Class B misdemeanor. Salary Range $57,087.47 – $67,765.23.
