Description
Seventh Sense seeks a Communications Specialist to support organizational clarity, service modernization, and strategic communications.
The specialist will help explain the Office of Administrative Services (OAS), clarify division responsibilities, communicate leadership priorities, and support the adoption of operational improvements. The position combines research, stakeholder engagement, communications planning, writing, and implementation under the Program Manager’s strategic direction.
Hiring Timeframe: Upcoming
Work Location: This position is Hybrid in Alexandria, VA. Seventh Sense will support your commute by contributing over $1,500 annually to a transportation FSA.
Key Responsibilities
Review existing policies, procedures, communications, and service materials to understand OAS operations and identify information gaps.
Conduct structured interviews and synthesize stakeholder input into clear descriptions of division services, customers, responsibilities, boundaries, and handoffs.
Support development of the OAS organizational narrative, value proposition, core messages, and service profiles.
Develop communications plans that identify the issue, audience, message, channels, frequency, and measures of success.
Draft and edit leadership messages, newsletters, presentations, briefing materials, service announcements, policy communications, and outreach products.
Create talking points, job aids, and other materials that help employees explain OAS services and support organizational changes.
Coordinate with the digital team to maintain consistent messaging across SharePoint, web content, and other approved channels.
Research government and industry practices in communications, customer experience, employee engagement, branding, and outreach; recommend practical applications for OAS.
Maintain communications calendars, templates, and messaging guidance.
Use available feedback and engagement information to recommend improvements and keep communications current as OAS priorities evolve.
Design and produce infographics, visual tools, and graphic communications products that translate OAS messaging and division roles into clear, engaging visual form.
Apply visual identity elements consistently across products to support the mission, vision, tagline, and slogan roll-out, internally and externally.
Build production-ready visuals and templates for publishing to SharePoint and external website, in coordination with the strategy and IT leads.
Required Skills and Qualities
Strong writing, editing, interviewing, and information-synthesis skills.
Ability to translate complex operational information into accurate, concise, plain-language content.
Experience developing communications for different audiences and purposes.
Ability to reconcile differing stakeholder input, identify unresolved questions, and obtain validation through established review processes.
Sound research judgment, including verification of sources and AI-assisted findings.
Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage concurrent assignments.
Ability to work independently, communicate progress, and raise issues with practical recommendations.
Demonstrated ability to produce infographics and visual communications products, not only to plan or write them.
Design judgment sufficient to turn narrative and data into accurate, on-brand visuals for different audiences.
Proficiency with visual-production tools — Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and/or Canva and comparable infographic platforms — in addition to Microsoft 365 tools used for writing, presentations, and collaboration.
Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years of experience
Preferred Experience
Federal agency or comparable complex organizational communications.
Service modernization, internal communications, policy rollouts, or change-adoption initiatives.
Developing service profiles, communications plans, leadership briefings, and customer-facing information.
Rebranding or visual-identity initiatives, including infographic and visual-system development.
Portfolio or work samples demonstrating infographic and visual communications production.
Expected Contribution
Help employees and customers understand what OAS does, where to obtain services, and what action to take, while reducing the communications burden on government staff.
