Job Title: Facilities Engineer (Electrician) Job Description

The Facilities Engineer (Electrician) performs daily maintenance assessments of facility systems, supports other trades with general equipment maintenance and repair, and helps maintain a clean and safe working environment. This role focuses on installing, troubleshooting, and repairing facility electrical distribution systems, lighting systems, apparatus, and devices. The position requires extensive knowledge of motors and motor controls, variable frequency drives, PLC controllers, and power distribution systems, as well as familiarity with low-voltage and fire alarm systems on facility equipment and machines.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily assessments of facility systems to identify maintenance needs and ensure reliable operation.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair facility electrical distribution systems, including panels, feeders, and branch circuits.
  • Maintain, repair, and upgrade lighting systems, apparatus, and electrical devices throughout the facility.
  • Support other trades by assisting with general equipment maintenance and repair activities.
  • Read and interpret system blueprints, specifications, and performance data to understand the configuration and purpose of components such as compressors, motors, pumps, fans, switches, controls, ducts, and pipes.
  • Troubleshoot control circuits and diagnose issues in electrical systems and components to restore proper function.
  • Work with motor controls, variable frequency drives, and PLC controllers to maintain and optimize equipment performance.
  • Perform electrical repairs on systems at 480 volts and above, following proper safety practices and standards.
  • Install, bend, and run conduit; pull and terminate wire and cable for new and existing installations.
  • Maintain and repair low-voltage systems and fire alarm systems associated with facility equipment and machines.
  • Conduct electrical maintenance, including inspections, adjustments, and component replacement, to prevent breakdowns.
  • Interpret electrical schematics and diagrams to guide troubleshooting and repair work.
  • Perform facility maintenance tasks that may include plumbing, mechanical repairs, and basic refrigeration system support.
  • Work at heights when required, including on aerial or boom lifts, to access equipment and infrastructure.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with facility safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Follow all established maintenance procedures and complete other duties as assigned by facility leadership.
  • Participate in mandatory overtime, including weekend work approximately once per month, to support operational needs.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in electrical repair on systems operating at 480 volts and higher.
  • Strong motor controls experience, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Ability to read and understand system blueprints, specifications, and performance data for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot control circuits and identify root causes of electrical issues.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs (programmable logic controllers) for maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with conduit bending, pulling wire, and cable installation in an industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and electrical maintenance for industrial facilities.
  • Ability to interpret and work from electrical schematics and panel layouts.
  • Comfort working at heights when accessing equipment and facility infrastructure.
  • Experience with facility maintenance activities, including electrical, mechanical, and basic plumbing tasks.
  • Familiarity with low-voltage systems and fire alarm system repair on facility equipment and machines.
  • Capability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including loud industrial areas.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to established maintenance and facility procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with refrigeration systems and related electrical and mechanical components.
  • Exposure to service and repair work in facilities maintenance settings.
  • General mechanical repair skills applicable to industrial and building systems.
  • EPA Universal certification experience or familiarity with HVAC/refrigeration practices.
  • Training on NFPA 70E electrical safety standards (nice to have).
  • Aerial lift or boom lift certification (nice to have).
  • Ability to work with plumbing systems as part of broader facility maintenance.
  • Comfort with loud environments and heavy industrial operations.
  • Experience working across multiple buildings or large campuses in a facilities role.

Work Environment

This role supports a large onsite campus that includes approximately 12 buildings spread across 1,650 acres and about 2 million square feet of space. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors. Indoor areas are very clean and temperature-controlled, while some locations can be loud due to heavy automotive industrial operations. The environment is industrial and fast-paced, with exposure to various facility systems and equipment. The position follows a 2nd shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with mandatory overtime that may include a weekend day about once per month. The role requires working at heights, using aerial or boom lifts when needed, and moving between buildings across the campus to perform maintenance and repair tasks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greensburg, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
