Overview Join to apply for the Physician, Urgent Care role at County of Ventura . The County of Ventura Ambulatory Care is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Physician, Urgent Care. This role provides medical services involving examination, diagnosis, and treatment of patients as Family Medicine physicians in ambulatory urgent care facilities. The urgent care is open between 8:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. We have urgent care facilities in the following Primary Care Clinic(s): Conejo Valley Family Medical Group, Las Islas Family Medical Group (South), Magnolia Family Medical Center (East), Sierra Vista Family Medical Clinic and West Ventura Medical Clinic. Typical responsibilities, qualifications, and benefits are described below. Responsibilities Provide complete, comprehensive, family-oriented, culturally sensitive clinical care for patients across the life cycle, including taking medical histories, performing examinations, making diagnoses, and treating patients. Prescribe medications and treatments, monitor patient progress, and adjust treatment as needed. Vaccinate patients to immunize against communicable diseases. Advise patients on evidence-based lifestyle changes and assist with self-management goals. Coordinate with the care team to deliver high-quality patient care and meet treatment goals. Work with a high volume of patients and manage changes, delays, or unexpected events. Follow workflows that support quality improvement and increase patient access. Explain the care plan and procedures clearly in verbal and written language. Advise nursing and related staff on medication administration; write orders as needed. Order and interpret laboratory tests and other medical assessments; consult with other physicians and refer patients to specialists when necessary. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation; keep problem and medication lists up to date. Respond to portal messages and EHR communications in a timely manner and provide coverage for colleagues when needed. Counsel patients and families about medical conditions and obtain appropriate consent for treatment. Participate in on-call systems and attend meetings, conferences, and training as determined by Ambulatory Care administration. Follow safety protocols, including two patient identifiers and time-out procedures, and comply with medical laws (e.g., HIPAA). Maintain CME requirements and uphold privileging standards. Education, Training and Experience Degree in Medicine At least 3 years of residency training Current state medical license DEA number Completed and passed U.S. Medical Licensing Examination Necessary Special Requirement(s) Must meet the VCMC Medical Staff Credentialing requirements as outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws Seven (7) shifts biweekly including one (1) weekend shift (for Regular positions only) Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine Compensation and Benefits The County offers an attractive compensation and benefits package. Approximate salaries: Primary Care Clinic Physician: $9,042.72 - $10,474.31 biweekly (prorated based on hours worked) Per Diem Urgent Care Clinic Physician: $140.00 per hour Annual salary range is approximately $235,110.63 to $291,200.00 plus eligibility for benefits described below. General Salary Increase (GSI) of 4.0% effective October 12, 2025, and 3.5% effective October 11, 2026 Bilingual Incentive: Up to $1.32 per hour, depending on needs and certification Loan Repayment Programs (availability varies by MOA) Holidays: 13 paid days per year (including two floating holidays) Deferred Compensation: 401(k) and/or 457 Plan with up to 3% match Health Insurance: Medical, dental, vision for employee and dependents; pre-tax spending accounts Pension Plan and potential reciprocity with other public retirement systems (e.g., CalPERS) Additional Benefits: Professional memberships, disability plans, EAP, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, wellness program Note: The Primary Care Clinic Physician and Per Diem Urgent Care Clinic Physician are At-Will classifications exempt from Civil Service.
