Diesel Generator Technician

Description Position Title : Critical Power Technician Reporting to: Service Manager Department : Service Central Power Systems & Services is a privately held company with deep roots going back to 1954. We are looking for a Critical Power Technician to help support that mission. Job Summary We service all brands of emergency standby generators, as well as automatic transfer switches, switchgear, and other related accessories. The normal working shift is 7AM to 4PM. However, there may be occasions when field work is required and this may necessitate extended hours. Ideally, we are looking for candidates who have some degree of prior experience with generator sets, diesel & gaseous engines, and industrial / commercial electrical distribution. However, more importantly, we are looking for technicians who want to grow their skills. Responsibilities Manage all aspects of critical power systems installation, start-up and commissioning. Perform diagnostic and repair procedures on all systems including PLCs, AC/DC, and switch gears. Perform scheduled maintenance on electric power generation equipment including gas and diesel engines, generators, and transfer switches. Coordination with installing electrical contractors. Oversee correction of issues arising from commissioning. Become familiar with working off-site and with mining companies. Testing and troubleshooting various sized generators. Generator Maintenance High school diploma or equivalent required Graduation from a Technical School preferred AAS Electrical Power Generator Tech a big Plus Military Experience is a Plus WORK CONDITIONS Physical Demands/Work Environment: This position regularly requires walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing stairs. It also often requires pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting 50+ lbs. and working in a variety of weather conditions and noise levels.
