Join us in building a brighter, cleaner world.This position will be based in Charlotte, NC.This position will report to the Manager, Core Systems.We are seeking a highly capable Senior Systems Administrator to lead the administration, optimization, and evolution of our Core Systems ecosystem. This role is ideal for someone who combines deep technical expertise with strong project ownership, a cloud-first mindset, and the ability to mentor junior team members.You will play a critical role in scaling and securing our SaaS environment, improving operational workflows, and driving automation—including the adoption of AI-powered solutions—across IT and the broader organization.Scope of ResponsibilitiesManage SaaS applications from access, configuration, and lifecycle perspectivesArchitect and lead Core Systems projects to improve business operationsOptimize onboarding/offboarding workflows through automationSupport and enhance security and compliance initiativesMentor junior staff and act as a technical leader within the teamOwn and drive IT-related AI initiatives across the organizationSystems Administration & OwnershipServe as the primary administrator and technical owner for key business systems, including:Google Workspace (Communications and productivity tools)Tray.io or other middleware/iPaaS platformsAPI integrations and API lifecycle managementAtlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management)ITSM platforms and service delivery toolingManage SaaS applications at the user, access, and configuration level, ensuring security and efficiencyOwn identity and access management processes across systems (SSO, SAML)Architecture, Integrations & AutomationArchitect and implement scalable system integrations across business platforms using APIs and middlewareDesign and maintain automation workflows to reduce manual processes across onboarding, offboarding, and supportLead the evaluation and implementation of new tools and technologies to improve system interoperabilityEnsure proper governance, monitoring, and documentation of integrations and APIsITSM, Change Management & OperationsSupport and enhance ITSM processes, including incident, request, and problem managementPartner with leadership to design and technically implement change management processesDrive improvements in onboarding/offboarding workflows, ensuring consistency, security, and speedCollaborate with support teams to improve service delivery and reduce friction for end usersSecurity, Compliance & GovernanceSupport and lead initiatives related to SOX, SOC 2, or other compliance frameworksPartner with Security and Audit teams to ensure systems meet compliance and control requirementsImplement and automate controls where possible (access reviews, provisioning workflows, logging, etc.)Maintain system documentation and audit readinessAI, Innovation & Continuous ImprovementAct as the owner and technical leader for IT-driven AI initiatives, including:AI-powered support workflowsAutomation of repetitive operational tasksIntelligent knowledge retrieval and self-serviceIdentify opportunities to leverage AI and automation to scale IT operations and improve user experiencePartner cross-functionally to drive adoption of AI solutions across the organizationLeadership & MentorshipServe as a technical leader and escalation point for complex systems and integrationsMentor and support junior team members, helping to elevate technical capabilities and best practicesLead projects independently, including planning, execution, stakeholder communication, and deliveryAct as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholdersQualifications4–8+ years of experience in Systems Administration, IT Engineering, or similar rolesStrong hands-on experience with:SaaS administration and ecosystem managementAPI integrations and middleware platforms (Tray.io or similar)Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management)ITSM platforms and workflowsExperience with identity management (SSO, SAML, SCIM) and MDM solutionsProven experience supporting compliance frameworks (SOX, SOC 2, etc.)Experience implementing automation (scripting, workflows, or low-code platforms)Exposure to change management frameworks (ITIL or similar) is a plusExperience working with or implementing AI-driven tools is a strong plusEmployment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.Palmetto embraces diversity and is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
