MPO Solutions is a growing firm seeking to fill a mid-management level position for a Registered Professional Electrical Engineer (TX PE). The position entails technical and leadership expertise for electrical engineering projects across aviation, industrial, and transportation markets in both public and private sectors. The role is responsible for delivering high-quality design solutions, providing technical leadership to project teams, and contributing to business development initiatives as part of a growing team supporting municipal clients in Prime role. Key responsibilities include collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to monitor project progress, identify potential schedule impacts, and implementing strategies to optimize project timelines and outcomes. Work will primarily support the firm's Program Management, Technical Services, and Owner's Representative services.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical oversight of electrical engineering design work, including power distribution systems, lighting systems, emergency power systems, and commissioning activities.

• Conduct comprehensive facility electrical system condition assessments and evaluations, developing recommendations for repair, rehabilitation, or replacement strategies.

• Provide strategic direction on complex technical challenges and design solutions.

• Ensure quality control and adherence to applicable codes, standards, and best practices including NEC, NFPA, and IEEE standards.

• Prepare detailed technical reports with findings, cost estimates, specifications, and design documentation.

Project Delivery

• Lead multidisciplinary design teams through all project phases from concept to construction.

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget requirements.

• Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

• Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets.

• Monitor project progress, identify potential schedule impacts, and implement corrective strategies.

Business Development

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within company targeted market sectors.

• Prepare compelling proposals and technical presentations for prospective clients.

• Participate in industry organizations and networking events.

• Present at client meetings, public forums, and industry conferences.

Staff Development

• Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering technical growth and professional development.

• Provide guidance on technical approaches and engineering problem-solving.

• Support career advancement of team members in a supervisory role.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Texas

• 5-10 years of post-licensure design experience in electrical engineering

• Active involvement in IEEE, NFPA, IESNA, or other professional societies

• Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) or Building Commissioning Professional (BCxP) certification.

• LEED Accredited Professional (AP) credential

• Demonstrate knowledge of design-build or progressive design-build project delivery methods.

Experience:

• Extensive design experience in power distribution systems, including medium and low voltage distribution, switchgear, transformers, and protective relaying.

• Proven expertise in lighting systems design for various applications including interior, exterior, airfield, roadway, and specialized industrial lighting.

• Demonstrated experience in emergency power systems including generators, UPS systems, automatic transfer switches, and life safety systems.

• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical system commissioning processes, including functional performance testing and startup procedures.

This position is primarily office-based with occasional visits to project sites. The employee must be able to sit for extended periods while working at a computer workstation, operating standard office equipment, and reviewing technical documents and drawings. Specific vision abilities required include close vision for detailed design work, the ability to read computer screens for extended periods, and the ability to adjust focus when reviewing documents and plans.

The position requires the ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, keyboards, and other office equipment, as well as to handle documents and writing instruments. The employee must be able to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and in virtual meetings, requiring the ability to speak clearly and hear conversational tones.

Occasional site visits may require the ability to walk on uneven terrain, navigate active construction sites, climb temporary or permanent stairs, and access areas under development or construction. Site visits may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions and construction site environments. When conducting condition assessments or site inspections, the employee may need to stand, walk, bend, stoop, or crouch to observe infrastructure conditions. The ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots during site visits is required.
