About the Opportunity

Our client is a rapidly growing, investor-backed consumer business operating within the e-commerce and online retail space. The company currently generates approximately $60M in annual revenue and is entering its next phase of growth.

The business is backed by institutional investors with a targeted 3–5 year investment horizon, creating an opportunity for an experienced CFO to join the leadership team at an important stage in the company's development.

The company is seeking a hands-on Chief Financial Officer who can own the entire finance and accounting organization while partnering closely with the executive team and investors. This person will be responsible for strengthening the company's financial infrastructure, improving reporting and forecasting, and helping position the business for continued growth and an eventual liquidity event.

This is a true accounting + finance CFO role rather than a purely strategic finance position. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at the executive and investor level while maintaining a strong understanding of the underlying accounting and financial operations of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the company's complete finance and accounting function, including accounting, FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, cash management and financial reporting.
• Own the monthly, quarterly and annual close and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
• Maintain strong accounting policies, internal controls and financial processes appropriate for a growing investor-backed organization.
• Develop and manage the company's annual budget, forecasts and long-range financial plan.
• Build financial models and KPI reporting that provide leadership and investors with greater visibility into business performance.
• Partner with the CEO and executive leadership team on strategic planning, growth initiatives and capital allocation.
• Serve as the primary financial partner to the company's investors and board, providing reporting, analysis and insight into company performance.
• Provide financial leadership around revenue growth, profitability, margins, working capital and cash flow.
• Evaluate opportunities to improve systems, processes, reporting and the overall scalability of the finance organization.
• Build and develop the finance and accounting team as the organization continues to grow.
• Support strategic transactions, financing initiatives and potential M&A activity as appropriate.
• Help prepare the company financially and operationally for an eventual exit or liquidity event within the investors' anticipated 3–5 year horizon.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will bring approximately 15–25 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including meaningful leadership experience at the CFO or senior finance executive level.

Candidates should have:

• CPA strongly preferred / required
• Significant experience within consumer products, retail, e-commerce or a closely related industry
• Strong technical accounting foundation with the ability to oversee the company's accounting organization
• Experience owning both Accounting and FP&A
• Prior CFO, divisional CFO, VP Finance or similarly senior financial leadership experience
• Experience working within an investor-backed, private equity-backed or institutionally funded business
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and financial modeling capabilities
• Experience communicating financial results to boards, investors and senior leadership
• Understanding of the financial and operational KPIs associated with consumer and e-commerce businesses
• Ability to operate effectively in a growing, entrepreneurial environment where the CFO is expected to remain hands-on
• Experience helping scale a business and professionalize its finance function
• Exposure to an exit, sale process, recapitalization or other liquidity event is highly desirable
