Program Assistant High Concept Laboratories $18/hour (12-14 hr/wk) through August 31, 2026.

Must be between 18-22 at the time of hire. Status: Temporary, Hourly (12-14 hours a week through August 31, 2026) Location: Hybrid. On-site locations include HCL’s office (205 E. Randolph St., Chicago, IL 60601) and various program and event locations as required. Availability: Occasional night and weekend availability required. For more information about High Concept Labs, please visit Purpose The Program Assistant contributes to High Concept Labs’ mission by providing administrative and programmatic support. Supported by the Illinois Arts Council, this position offers hands‑on, paid work experience in the arts sector for an individual between the ages of 18 and 22 (per grant requirements). The Program Assistant will assist with scheduling meetings and preparing materials for the Artistic Advisory Council, a panel of experienced arts practitioners who work with staff to guide the artistic direction of programs. The Program Assistant will also organize and distribute photo and video documentation of performances and events, using standardized naming conventions and digital tools like WeTransfer. The Program Assistant will also provide production and general event support for the Art/Access Lab on Sunday, August 16 and a fundraising event on Sunday, August 30. A key project will be to build on existing resources for artists engaged in HCL’s programs, such as venue databases and maps. Work Scope Primary Tasks Organizing and distribute photo and video documentation Production and event support Maintenance of program calendar Meeting scheduling and preparation Other program support as needed Other duties as assigned Key Skills & Qualifications Must be between 18-22 at the time of hire Familiarity with and appreciation for time‑based art including sound, video, performance, music, dance, and other experimental performing arts Basic knowledge of video, projection, and sound equipment (microphones, wireless transmitters, mixers, speakers, etc.) Proficient with Google Workspace, YouTube, WeTransfer; General comfort with digital technology and ability to learn new software Strong written and verbal communication Strong project management, deadline management, and attention to detail Commitment to accessibility and customer service Access to reliable transportation for attendance at in‑person meetings and events. Compensation & Payment This position pays $18 per hour for 12-14 hours of work per week (100 hours total), ending August 31, 2026. Benefits include paid holidays, paid personal time off.
