Job Details Title: Driver, Regional Intermodal Location: USA - Houston, 831 Division: Road Transport, US Time Type: Full Time Summary The regional drayage driver completes regional over-the-road container deliveries with consistent home time, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and professionalism. Paid orientation including transportation, lodging, and meals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operates semi-tractor trailers on regional over-the-road drayage routes. Drives in compliance with Hours of Service regulations, operating up to 11 hours following a minimum of 10 consecutive hours off duty. Performs local pickup and delivery (P&D) as assigned. Backs trailers safely and accurately to customer docks, ports, rail yards, and designated locations. Maintains full compliance with all Federal, State, and DOT safety regulations, demonstrating safe and professional driving behavior at all times. Communicates professionally, courteously, and effectively with customers, dispatchers, and company representatives. Coordinates loads, schedules, and routing with dispatch to ensure timely and efficient deliveries. Secures containerized and/or palletized freight properly, ensuring correct arrangement and balance of cargo. Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections and ensures mechanical issues are addressed prior to vehicle operation. Complies with all DOT requirements, including participation in random and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing programs. Performs additional duties as assigned. Qualifications & Work Experience CDL A License Required. Current TWIC card required. A minimum of 2 years CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years; 3+ years CDL A driving experience preferred. Meet D.O.T. qualification requirements, FMCSR 391.41. Experience in load securement, route planning, and navigating various road conditions. Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to handle sensitive cargo with care. Detail-oriented mindset required. Physical Demands Frequently carry, push, or pull freight weighing 1-125 pounds. Lifts up to 50 pounds. Frequently reach for freight at waist level and occasionally above shoulder height or below waist level. Shift manual transmission and operate foot pedals, not applicable on all trucks. Frequently squat or crouch to handle and position freight. Climb in and out of over-the-road tractor, 4 to 6 feet, 8 to 10 times daily with assistance of various steps and handholds; occasionally bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching and balancing. Conduct pre-trip inspection for a tractor and trailer. Be able to hook/unhook various commercial vehicle combinations, manually lower/raise landing gear, operate the fifth wheel release level, lock/release pintle-hooks, fuel vehicles and check engine oil/coolant levels, perform preventative maintenance. Must be able to spend at least 5% of day standing and 5% of the day walking on surfaces such as wood, metal and concrete. Surface may sometimes be slippery or wet. Must be able to reach above shoulder level, at waist level and below waist level for maneuvering and directing the controls to operate the truck. Work Environment While performing the duties of a driver, the employee may be exposed to diesel fumes, airborne particles, and occasionally harsh weather conditions while loading or unloading. The work environment includes time spent both inside the truck cab—which may involve extended periods of sitting and exposure to engine noise and vibration—and outside at customer sites, terminals, or on public roadways. Noise levels can vary from quiet inside the cab to moderate or loud at delivery or pick‑up locations. Compensation For this position, the expected base pay range is $0.48 – $0.66 /Mile. Actual compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
