Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Financial Counselor to assist patients with insurance verification, financial screening, payment arrangements, and financial assistance programs. Responsibilities Conduct patient financial screenings and interviews. Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, copays, deductibles, and patient responsibility. Obtain insurance authorizations for ED admissions, Inpatient, and BHU. Assist with Medi-Cal, Charity Care, and financial assistance applications. Establish payment plans and cash-rate arrangements. Maintain accurate registration and financial records. Perform daily audits of ED accounts. Explain hospital, state, and federal financial policies to patients and families. Support and train Registration staff as needed. Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, physicians, and staff. Qualifications 2-3 years of hospital financial counseling experience preferred. Knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, HMO, PPO, EPO, Managed Care, and commercial insurance. Hospital patient registration experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology. Strong communication and customer service skills. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required. Must complete required AVIP/Fire Card and AIDET training. Schedule: Must be flexible to work varying shifts and overtime as needed. #J-18808-Ljbffr Mission-Community-Hospital
