About the Position

Job Title: RN - Labor and Delivery Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, FHM Must-Have: Ability to interpret fetal heart tracings and manage labor patients through delivery. Description: This is a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center. There are a total of 74 beds. The unit includes 8 labor beds, 1 antepartum bed, 3 triage bays, and 12 postpartum beds. Patient types include Cesarean sections, laboring patients, mother/baby care, OB triage, high-risk cases, and antepartum care. For labor and delivery, the patient ratio is 1:1, and for postpartum care, the ratio is 1:1 to 1:3. Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines. The unit has a charge nurse who may have an assignment but typically remains available for support. Obstetricians and anesthesia providers are on call 24/7. A phlebotomy team is available for assistance. Fetal monitoring is performed without a telemetry technician. The preferred charting system is EPIC, and Alaris is used for medication management. Floating is not required, except within areas of Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum. Weekend rotation is required once per month. Up to seven days of time off can be approved. No on-call shifts are required unless a traveler voluntarily opts to participate. Holiday expectations include one summer and one winter holiday. Scrub colors are provided by the facility.
