PARALEGAL

Conducts preliminary investigations, reviews cases, conducts research to determine appropriate jurisdiction, and will review rules of procedures and calendar deadlines. Will gather and evaluate initial facts, documents and evidence, interviews clients, runs and reviews criminal histories, and enters information into department database. Will be responsible for preparing case documentation for transfers as needed. Manages all related documentation for attorneys by conducting discovery investigations, drafting and/or reviewing interrogations, requests for admissions, and requests for production of documents. Will coordinate collection and review of client files and documents. Will gather, organize, summarize, and analyze data. Will respond to discovery requests, locate and retain expert witnesses, prepare chronologies, and review hearing notices and publications. Will confer with attorneys to determine which documents to produce and offers litigation support, including reviewing, indexing, organizing, analyzing documents, and follow up on outstanding discovery requests. Performs other related duties as required. Associate degree in paralegal studies or closely related field; supplemented by two years of experience as a paralegal, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain South Carolina Driver's License. Must possess and maintain Paralegal certification or its equivalent is preferred. THIS POSITION IS IN PICKENS, SC.
