SOCIAL SERVICES SUPERVISOR/EXPERT

Position Number: 22097614 County: Saline Posting End Date: September 1, 2026 The Social Services Supervisor/Expert or SSS/E oversees 3 - 4 Social Services Advisors that manage approximately 50 - 60 residential cases, and then 20 - 30 aftercare cases. This position reviews the order of commitments, complete a demographic background with the parent and/or guardian to begin identifying the youth's needs, both in custody and upon discharge. The SSS/E is required to make monthly visits with all the youth on their respective caseloads approximately 40-50 cases. This requires the SSS/E to travel to all (6-8) sites across the state, and to courts across the state. Face to face visits with the youth while in assessment and holding phone calls with their guardians. It's essential to build strong relationships with the youth and families. Attend Treatment Team Meetings. Provide information to all parties involved in the Treatment Team meeting with information through the monthly Case Coordinator Questionnaire Form. Maintain regular contact with Treatment Team Members on Social Service Advisor roles and contact information. Monitor compliance of treatment plan goals. Complete Monthly Social Service Advisor Treatment Team Progress Reports. Review progress reports from contracted programs to determine youth’s progress and treatment needs. Coordinate, schedule and attend meetings with providers, as required or as directed. Maintain compliance with DYS/DCFS cooperation agreement and interdivisional on any DCFS youth as required. Attend DCFS staffing’s as required and assists with any placement issues, and completing the required applications for placement. Obtain and review information necessary for completing and submitting all regular and specialized treatment and required procedure packets for the following: Adolescent Sexual Assessment Project (ASAP), Extended Juvenile Jurisdiction (EJJ) packet, Interstate Compact packet (ICJ) prepare dual custody staffing reports (DCFS) and Registration Risk Assessment (RRA), Completes an updated SAVRY every six months that is filed with the courts. Review/submit discharge summaries and aftercare plan as a completed packet to the committing courts. Tracking and initiating commitment order extensions, when necessary, on youth. Contacting the courts for courts hearings or notifications for a youth's release. Serves as a liaison with court officials, contracted programs, guardians, and any stakeholders for the youth's case. The SSS/E addresses and reports to Quality Assurance any grievances and issues regarding the youth's needs that are not being met by the program. The SSS/E has to be thorough, knowledgeable and prepared in order to answer questions in a minutes notice. The SSS/E has to manage staff with caseloads, and manage their own caseloads, so they have to be organized and pay attention to detail. This position functions as a Juvenile Case Management Supervisor. This role involves strategic planning, program evaluation, and supervision of case management to improve service delivery and client outcomes. The Supervisor/Expert serves as a subject-matter authority in social work practices, policy development, and stakeholder engagement.Primary Responsibilities The assignment of supervisory duties is determined by the hiring agency's operational needs. Non-supervisory roles will serve as senior technical experts. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate social services staff. Develop and implement policy and program initiatives to improve service delivery. Conduct program audits and quality assurance to ensure compliance. Provide expertise in crisis intervention, case management, and legal compliance. Coordinate with government agencies, community organizations, and advocacy groups. Lead statewide social services initiatives and high-priority programs. Oversee compliance with federal, state, and agency regulations.
