Purpose of Role

Under general supervision the Head Coach actively recruits student athletes schedules games and practices and makes recommendations for scholarships; contributes to the educational mission of the University by offering education direction and instruction in the area of flag football. Supervisory responsibility for a ssistant coaches graduate assistants and volunteer coaches.

About This Opportunity

• Contributes to the educational mission of the University by coordinating the instruction of student-athletes in the area of flag football training and competition;
• Recruits student-athletes for womens flag football program;
• Instructs methods and strategies and coaches student-athletes in the sport;
• Makes decisions regarding scholarships;
• Schedules practices and games;
• Responsible for the transport and supervises players while on the road;
• Supervises assistant coaching staff and performs performance appraisals;
• Participates in sport specific and department-wide fundraising initiatives;
• Conduct camps/clinics in the sport of flag football;
• Develop avenues for community engagement and student-athlete personal/career development;
• Works with Vice President of Athletics or designee regarding specific sport budget to ensure fiscal responsibility for all aspects of program including facility rental;
• Operates the program under the rules and regulations of the University the NCAA and the ECC; understanding that a coach can be suspended for a period of time without pay or terminated if found to be involved in significant or repetitive violations of NCAA regulations;
• Responsible for providing all material relevant to the team (ensuring institutional NCAA and ECC compliance) in a timely manner
• Faculty and staff are expected to maintain the confidentiality of all confidential and proprietary information (including but not limited to: student personal information student grades employee personal information etc.) both during and after their employment with the University. If a faculty or staff member has a question about the confidentiality of a particular matter he/she should consult their supervisor. Any violation of this rule shall subject the faculty /staff member to disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination of employment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor degree masters preferred in related field is required with coaching experience.

• At least two-years of coaching experience in womens flag football.
• Valid drivers license required. License must meet insurance company rules and regulations for driving underwriting criteria.
• Strong interpersonal organizational written and oral communication skills.
• Evidence of and ability to articulate a strong current practical knowledge of the sport of flag football.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully coach college level student-athletes.
• Knowledge of coaching and teaching techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
• Ability to work evenings weekends and holidays when necessary.
• Ability to drive a personal or university vehicle for the purpose of college business on a regular basis and ability to travel when necessary.
• Knowledge of recruiting techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
• Current certification in CPR AED and First Aid.
• Ability to run a practice and transport any needed equipment.
