1. POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides vitreoretinal surgical and medical care within a high volume, multispecialty ophthalmology department. The role includes outpatient clinic services, advanced retinal surgery, laser procedures, and collaboration with a large team of ophthalmologists, optometrists, and support staff.
2. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide medical and surgical vitreoretinal care
• Perform high volume vitreoretinal surgeries
• Conduct evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and ongoing management
• Utilize advanced ophthalmic imaging and surgical technologies
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, opticians, and clinical support teams
• Participate in call rotation (1:5)
• Engage in clinical research with an embedded research coordinator
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation
• Support quality and performance improvement initiatives
• Participate in academic or research activities as available
3. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Physician with qualifications in Ophthalmology
• Fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Surgery
• Board Certified or Board Eligible

• Strong surgical volume interest
• Team oriented and personable clinical style
5. COMPETENCIES
• Clinical expertise in vitreoretinal surgery
• Proficiency with advanced ophthalmic imaging and laser systems

• Ability to work collaboratively within a large ophthalmology department
6. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide vitreoretinal services across outpatient, ASC, and hospital affiliated settings
• Perform retinal surgeries using advanced equipment including intraoperative OCT, Zeiss Lumera microscopes, and Alcon Centurion systems
• Utilize diagnostic tools including OCT, FA, ICG, UBM, A scan, B scan, and widefield imaging
• Perform laser procedures including SLT, YAG, and micropulse
• Collaborate with subspecialists including cornea, medical retina, pediatric ophthalmology, and neuro ophthalmology
• Participate in clinical research and academic initiatives
7. ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participate in departmental operations as assigned
• Support academic and educational initiatives
8. WORK SETTING & ENVIRONMENT
Work Environment: Clinic/Private Practice; Outpatient; Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC); Hospital
• Newly built ophthalmology facility with exam lanes, minor procedure rooms, laser rooms, and onsite ASC
• Satellite clinic with onsite ASC
• Integrated clinical research suite
• Multispecialty ophthalmology and optometry team
• Access to advanced diagnostic and surgical technology
9. SCHEDULE & CALL REQUIREMENTS
• Full time or non traditional scheduling options available
• Call rotation: 1:5
• High volume surgical practice
10. REPORTING STRUCTURE
This position reports to Clinical Leadership and collaborates with ophthalmology, optometry, and multispecialty teams across the organization.
