Engineer Subject Matter Expert

-Oversee the installation of networking hardware in addition to maintaining, supervising and troubleshooting the existing network-Performing installations, debugging, maintenance, upgrades, and general support for Routers (including WiFi), L2 and L3 Switches, Firewalls, WAN Accelerators, Load balancers, etc.-Performing a wide range of network administration duties including installations, debugging, maintenance, upgrades, and general support for Cisco, Juniper, HP, Nortel, and Extreme network equipment-Evaluate, test, and deploy all software and hardware upgrades to the networking infrastructure-Assist in the configuration and deployment of core and peripheral network devices, which will require continuous learning of new devices (i.e. Nexus switches, ASR routers, and long haul optical equipment)-Proactive monitoring of all network devices, services, and servers using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and SLAs-Collect and review network utilization data for capacity and planning purposes-Configure and install various network devices and services e.g., routers (including WiFi), switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, etc.-Knowledge of Unix/Linux based operating systems-Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure-Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team-Establish networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards-Maximize network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization-Secure network system by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access-Accomplish information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed-Author and/or approver to Network Team SOPs-Responsible to fully document assigned tickets to show all work performed in order to pass SLRs and to lead the Network Team to accomplish the same-Responsible to maintain accurate CMDB entries for assigned tickets or tasks, personally and for team membersQualifications: -US Citizenship required-Strong oral and written communication skills-3 years direct experience required in the management and administration of network infrastructure - routers, switches, etc. - in a high-availability or e-commerce infrastructure-3+ experience with layer 2 network protocols switching, including but not limited to: 802.1Q tagging, STP (and its variations), LACP, etc.-3+ years of experience with IP subnetting-2+ years of experience with layer 3 network routing, including but not limited to: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP-2+ years of layer 4 IP protocol suites (TCP, UDP, ICMP, GRE, etc.)-3+ years of experience with access technologies such as LDAP, AD, RADIUS, TACACS -Advanced communication skills and ability to work independently-Experience supporting mobile technology -Displays leadership qualities, takes ownership of assigned responsibilities-Typically requires BS degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience.
