Mechanic Helper
Are you mechanically inclined, dependable, and ready to get your hands dirty? We are looking for a Mechanic Helper to join our active shop team in Weyers Cave, VA! In this position, you will work directly alongside experienced Lead Mechanics to service, repair, and maintain a wide variety of equipment and machinery. This is a great opportunity to expand your mechanical skills, learn advanced troubleshooting techniques, and build a stable career in shop maintenance.
What Youll Do
- Support Repairs: Assist Lead Mechanics with routine diagnostics, servicing, and complex repairs across brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, and engine systems.
- Handle Routine Maintenance: Perform foundational tasks including oil/filter changes, greasing equipment, and replacing belts, hoses, and batteries.
- Prep & Maintain the Shop: Gather necessary tools and replacement parts ahead of jobs; keep shop bays, vehicles, and work areas clean and hazard-free.
- Inspect & Work Safely: Inspect components for wear or safety risks, operate hand and power tools safely, and properly manage shop fluids and waste.
What Were Looking For
- Experience & Interest: Prior shop or mechanical experience is a plus, but a strong work ethic and a desire to learn matter most.
- Skills: Comfort using hand/power tools and basic mechanical knowledge.
- Traits: Safety-conscious, punctual, takes direction well, and works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Requirements: Valid Drivers License preferred; reliable transportation to and from the shop daily.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Able to stand, bend, kneel, and work in tight spaces throughout the day.
- Able to lift, push, and carry shop tools and parts weighing 25+ lbs.
- Comfortable working in both indoor shop conditions and outdoor job environments with exposure to noise, dirt, oil, and changing weather conditions.
