About This Role

We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Cook to join our child care center team in Roebuck, SC. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious, delicious meals and snacks that meet federal and state guidelines for young children. You will play a vital role in fostering healthy eating habits and ensuring a safe, sanitary, and welcoming kitchen environment for our students and staff.

• Prepare and cook delicious well-balanced breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily according to established menus and nutritional guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized kitchen, including all cooking equipment, utensils, food preparation areas, and storage spaces.
• Manage food inventory, track supplies, and order ingredients while remaining within the designated monthly food budget.
• Accommodate children with documented food allergies, intolerances, or specific dietary restrictions with safe substitutes.
• Adhere strictly to South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS) and DHEC food safety and sanitation regulations.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience cooking in a licensed child care facility, school cafeteria, or commercial kitchen setting.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, fingerprinting, and a central registry check as required by South Carolina DSS.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and proper food handling procedures.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) Experience Preferred
