Electrical Engineer

SABG is hiring an Electrical Engineer to support Engineering Support Services for the 50th Civil Engineer Squadron (50 CES) at Schriever Space Force Base (SSFB), Colorado Springs, Colorado. Travel: Minimal to none. This position is performed on-site at Schriever Space Force Base. This position is contingent upon contract award.

LOCATION: Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, Colorado (Building 210)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

Provide non-personal electrical engineering support for the full lifecycle of facilities and infrastructure projects on a military installation. This includes, but not limited to, performing expert-level design, comprehensive project planning, and diligent construction management and monitoring to support critical military missions and real property assets.

• Perform comprehensive planning and design work for substantial, multi-phase new construction, renovation, and improvement projects for real property facilities and complex utility systems, developing and reviewing design calculations, cost estimates, technical drawings, specifications, and Statements of Work.

• Manage and maintain surveillance over new construction, renovation, and improvement projects to ensure construction contractor compliance with contracted specifications, schedules, codes, and safety requirements, including preconstruction site surveys and change order reviews.

• Plan, program, budget, and execute a wide range of engineering projects by assessing validity, feasibility, and economic and environmental impacts, using cost-estimating tools, competing for funding through Air Force corporate processes such as AFCAMP, and validating requirements using Sustainment Management Systems (SMS).

• Serve as a primary technical consultant and project coordinator, liaising with engineers, architects, planners, contracting officers, tenant organizations, and external construction agents such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and NAVFAC.

• Collect, evaluate, and analyze technical data affecting facilities and infrastructure using advanced computer software such as CAD, GIS, and modeling programs, conducting field surveys and quantitative analysis to support project development and design.

• Actively comply with all health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures, ensuring federal, state, and local codes are strictly interpreted and applied throughout the programming, design, and construction phases.

• Provide reviews and recommendations on project submittals for Government approval weekly.

• Review project Requests for Information (RFIs) and provide recommendations for Government response weekly.

• Conduct project statement of work reviews and project design reviews monthly.

• Generate Statement of Work (SOW) packages monthly.

• Participate in field investigations as directed by the Government's authorized representative.

• Provide recommendation reports to project stakeholders addressing requirements and constructability on a bi-weekly basis.

SUPERVISION: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program and at least 5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.

• Professional knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principles, and practices, with strong familiarity with architectural, mechanical, and structural disciplines.

• Comprehensive knowledge of applicable engineering and construction standards, contracting regulations, health and safety requirements, and environmental laws.

• Proficiency in automated data processing, program planning, and budgeting cycles, including financial control systems.

• A high degree of skill in aesthetic and functional design techniques, drafting, and preparing complete project documentation.

COMPUTER SKILLS: • Skills in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment.

• Must have proficiency in a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and database (MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

• Proficiency with CAD, GIS, and other Government-approved engineering modeling programs.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and electrical load and circuit calculations, to design and cost-estimating situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to question activities and issues in all functional areas and make sound business decisions based on that data.

Job duties are performed in a combination of an office environment and outdoor construction and facility environments on a military installation. When on active construction sites, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, elevated noise levels, dust, and varying outdoor weather conditions, and must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required (e.g., hard hat, safety vest, safety footwear). The noise level in the office environment is usually low to moderate and can be moderate to high on active construction sites.

SALARY RANGE: $100,000-$130,000 Compensation at SABG is determined based on factors such as the role's requirements, education, certifications, skills, experience, geographic location, and market conditions. Final compensation is based on the specific qualifications and circumstances of each candidate.
