Quality Technician

Position Overview As a Quality Technician, you will provide quality supportfor projects including next‑generation nuclear reactor design, reactor component development and fabrication, and advanced manufacturing technology development. Location Lynchburg, VA – Advanced Technologies Office. Your Day to Day as a Quality Technician Provide quality control (QC) support and oversight for engineering, development, and testing activities. Perform dimensional inspections using various instruments and techniques. Develop inspection and test plans, including determination of inspection methods and calibration procedures. Assist with the development of inspection procedures. Assist with the development of manufacturing plans. Support current inspection equipment and systems. Participate in review and disposition of nonconformances. Assist in identifying quality requirements for procurements and reviewing supplier proposals. Review supplier inspection plans and procedures. Perform source inspection and witness surveillance at suppliers. Review supplier quality documentation for conformance to procurement requirements. Support additional assignments by management as needed. Required Qualifications Minimum of an associate degree in a technical field plus four (4) years of experience, or a high‑school diploma equivalent plus eight (8) years of relevant experience. Minimum of four (4) years of quality experience in a nuclear, defense, or aerospace industry. Experience performing dimensional inspections with demonstrated understanding of dimensional inspection techniques. Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and understand ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Knowledge of inspection tools, systems, techniques, and NDE methods. Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multi‑task. Proficiency in generating technical reports and presentations using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with minimal procedural guidance and supervision. U.S. citizenship. Capability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, as required. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of two (2) years of experience with inspection for product development and/or prototyping. Understanding and implementation of quality standards such as ISO9001, AS9100, NQA‑1, ASME NCA‑4000, and NASA. Experience with product development and prototyping. Experience with laser metrology tools (e.g., HandySCAN, MetraSCAN). Experience with CMM programming and/or manual CMM inspection.
