Forward Deployed Engineer / Solutions Architect
Sales remote full-time $150k–$200k + equity
You'll act as a forward-deployed engineer: designing architectures, writing POC code, and guiding customers to production with Mixpeek. You'll work with AdTech platforms and Media & Entertainment companies who are tired of managing 15+ tools to process multimodal data. The typical customer has spent 12-18 months building a DIY pipeline-you'll prototype indexing/retrieval pipelines using our Ray engine, then help them integrate into their environment. This is a founding role-you'll work directly with the founder and first customers.
Responsibilities
- Own 2-3 lighthouse accounts end-to-end: from first technical discovery to production go-live
- Design and implement POCs using Mixpeek's engine (Ray, Celery, Qdrant, MongoDB, ClickHouse, S3, Temporal) deployed on customers' cloud environments
- Build POCs and demos tailored to specific customer use cases-AdTech targeting, video search, content moderation, etc.
- Partner with AEs to understand what customers are actually trying to solve (not just what they say they want)
- Translate messy, real-world workloads into clear requirements for the product/infra teams
- Act as the feedback loop between customers and engineering-you'll influence the roadmap
- Create technical documentation and reference architectures for common verticals
Requirements
- 5+ years with background as an ML/data/infra engineer who enjoys working directly with customers
- Comfortable writing production-adjacent Python and/or TypeScript to build POCs and reference integrations (not just diagrams)
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, data pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with MLOps, vector databases (ideally Qdrant), and workflow orchestration (Temporal, Airflow)
- You can explain technical concepts to both CTOs and VP Eng-and know when to code vs. when to PowerPoint
- Experience with AdTech, Media & Entertainment, or similar data-heavy verticals is a big plus
- You're comfortable working across multiple customer engagements at once
