Registered Dental Hygienist

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. As a key member of our practice, you will be responsible for providing preventive dental services, educating patients on oral health, and supporting overall clinical operations. Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and evaluating oral health status. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health. Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records (EHR) using systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Follow infection prevention protocols by adhering to aseptic techniques, sterilization procedures, and infection control standards. Monitor and operate dental equipment efficiently while ensuring all tools are properly maintained and sanitized. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth clinic operations, including documentation review and medical coding when necessary. Uphold patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines, fostering a trusting environment for all patients. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist within a general or pediatric dentistry setting. Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control procedures. Experience performing dental x-rays (radiography) with attention to safety standards for patients and staff. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices is preferred to effectively serve younger patients. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties including instrument transfer and patient support during procedures. Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and sterilization processes. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients on oral health maintenance effectively. Understanding of medical records management, medical coding, and EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation review.
