Three years of full-time experience performing clinical case work AND a master's degree from accredited college or university in social work, marriage and family therapy, counseling, psychology or closely related field AND licensure in the State of Nevada to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Marriage and Family Therapist or a Clinical Professional Counselor. License Or Certificate
The ideal candidate will have experience providing therapy and case management to at-risk adolescents and their families, as well as knowledge of mental health services and other community resources, including how to effectively navigate them. This candidate will oversee a mental health services unit for both detention and probation services within the Jan Evans Juvenile Justice Center. They will provide oversight and support to therapists in detention who deliver supportive therapy, crisis therapy, and assessments to youth and may also supervise therapists assigned to a community-based therapy program that upholds high-quality assurance standards. Additionally, this individual will provide guidance, supervision, and training to Juvenile Services staff. Prior mental health supervisory experience is required. Certain positions in the Human Services Agency have access to criminal justice agency systems including NCIC and CJIS. All felony convictions, gross misdemeanor and certain misdemeanors will prohibit that employee from working with NCIC and CJIS criminal justice systems. Additionally, Human Services Agency will run a background check via the Child Abuse and Neglect Registry.

Background checks will be conducted on selected applicants through the State of Nevada and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Per the Washoe County Background and Reference Checks Policy, new and rehired employees are required to submit to a fingerprint based background investigation. Effective January 1, 2025, the $39.00 fee associated with this background investigation will be paid by the employee (if applicable) and deducted automatically from the first paycheck. Employment is contingent upon the results of the background check, although a record of conviction will not necessarily bar an applicant from employment.
