This senior role will lead the development of differentiated investment insights grounded in rigorous policy, regulatory, and market analysis across the U.S. power sector.The Director will play a central role in shaping Capstone’s intellectual leadership in the energy transition, translating complex regulatory and legislative developments into actionable investment strategies for institutional investors. This individual will maintain high-level relationships with policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, and clients, and will contribute to expanding Capstone’s presence as a trusted authority on U.S. electricity markets and grid policy.As a senior member of Capstone’s energy research team, the Director will guide research priorities, mentor junior analysts, and collaborate across policy verticals to deliver integrated insights at the intersection of politics, regulation, and financial markets.**Key Responsibilities*** Lead policy and regulatory analysis across electricity markets, utilities, power generation, and grid infrastructure* Develop differentiated, forward-looking investment theses informed by legislative, regulatory, and market developments* Serve as a senior thought leader for clients on the evolving U.S. energy and power policy landscape* Build and maintain senior-level relationships with policymakers, regulators, industry executives, and institutional investors* Present research insights directly to hedge funds, asset managers, and other institutional clients* Mentor and oversee junior analysts, helping shape research output and analytical frameworks* Collaborate across Capstone’s sector teams to produce integrated policy analysis and cross-sector insights* Represent Capstone in industry discussions, policy forums, and client engagements* Produce high-quality research reports, policy briefings, and investor presentations**Qualifications and Attributes****Ideal candidates will demonstrate:*** Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking capabilities* A strong ability to synthesize complex policy developments into clear investment implications* A track record of developing differentiated insights and thought leadership* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage senior clients and policymakers* Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities* Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to independently drive research initiatives* A deep passion for the intersection of policy, politics, and financial markets**Education and Experience Requirements*** Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree strongly preferred (e.g., Public Policy, Economics, Finance, Energy Systems, or related fields)* **10+ years of experience** in equity research, consulting, investment banking, government, regulatory bodies, or policy analysis* Significant expertise in electricity markets, power generation (renewable and conventional), grid regulation, and energy transition policy* Demonstrated experience engaging with senior policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders* Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship* Deep familiarity with regional transmission organizations (RTOs/ISOs), particularly **PJM****Preferred Background*** Expertise in **data center energy demand, large load tariffs, and utility regulatory frameworks*** Experience advising institutional investors or producing investment-oriented policy research* Prior leadership experience managing analysts or research teams* Based in or open to relocation to **Washington, D.C., New York, or Houston**We are an equal opportunity employer.
