Field Service Engineer I

Job Description

Job Description

Engineer I, Field Service

This position is based at our West Palm Beach, Florida facility.

Are you an engineer who enjoys solving problems, working hands-on with equipment, and seeing your work make an immediate impact? MMT is looking for an Engineer I, Field Service to join our growing team. This is a great opportunity for an early-career Mechanical or Electrical Engineer who wants to build technical expertise beyond a traditional desk-based engineering role.

In this position, you'll work directly with customers and MMT's technical teams to install, test, troubleshoot, program, and service custom high-precision machinery. You'll gain exposure to automation, motion controls, mechanical and electrical systems, and process development while supporting customers across the medical device, aerospace, and automotive industries.

If you enjoy figuring out how things work, troubleshooting complex equipment, traveling to customer locations, and working directly with customers, this could be a great next step in your engineering career.   This position is based at our West Palm Beach, Florida facility.

What You'll Do

• Install, test, troubleshoot, repair, and service custom machinery and high-precision mechanical systems.
• Program and troubleshoot new machines.
• Diagnose equipment issues and recommend effective technical solutions.
• Perform testing and validation of new equipment before it leaves production.
• Support factory acceptance testing with customers.
• Assist with process development by applying machinery to customer applications.
• Perform equipment installations and complete acceptance testing at customer locations.
• Provide technical guidance and training to customers.
• Document equipment configurations, upgrades, service activities, and repairs.
• Work closely with customers to support production needs and resolve technical issues.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline required.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• CNC, machine controls, automation, or motion control experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with basic electrical and mechanical systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to analyze problems and develop practical solutions.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Comfortable presenting technical information to customers.
• Familiarity with Windows operating systems; ERP experience is a plus.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in the field.

Travel & Work Environment :

• This is a hands-on field service position with frequent travel of approximately 50–75%, including overnight, air, and ground travel. You'll work in both customer facilities and MMT manufacturing environments.
• Candidates should be comfortable working around manufacturing equipment, standing or walking for extended periods, climbing ladders, accessing equipment in different positions, and lifting tools or equipment up to 50 pounds.

Why Join MMT?

• This role offers the opportunity to develop a broad technical skill set while working with custom equipment rather than performing the same task every day. You'll gain hands-on experience with automation, machine design, material handling, custom tooling, controls, troubleshooting, and customer applications, while working with experienced technical teams and      customers.
• MMT is growing, and this position offers career growth potential for someone who wants to develop both their engineering and customer-facing skills.

MMT offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:

• 401(k) retirement plan with employer match
• Paid time off and paid parental leave
• Tuition reimbursement and professional development opportunities
• Annual bonus plan eligibility
• Dependent scholarship program for children, grandchildren, or legal wards

Ready for a hands-on engineering career?

If you're looking for an engineering role where you can troubleshoot real-world problems, work directly with advanced machinery, travel, and build valuable technical experience, we'd like to hear from you. Apply today to join the MMT team.
