Cafe & Catering Associate (Temporary Contract – possibility of permanent work ) | $17.00/ hr | Variable Schedule

Job Description

We are seeking an energetic and customer-focused Cafe & Catering Associate to support daily café operations and catering events. This role is responsible for preparing and delivering catered events, assisting guests, operating cash registers, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The ideal candidate enjoys providing excellent customer service, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable with physically demanding work, including frequently lifting and moving chairs, tables, and catering equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a long-term position, as outstanding temporary employees may be considered for permanent employment.

Responsibilities

• Set up, deliver, service, and clean up catered events.
• Prepare and assemble catering orders for delivery.
• Operate café cash registers, collect payments, and balance cash drawers.
• Greet guests and provide exceptional customer service.
• Answer customer questions regarding menu items and pricing.
• Organize conference rooms, catering equipment, and storage areas.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized café and catering workspace.
• Assist with moving chairs, tables, and equipment for meetings and special events.
• Maintain on-time delivery schedules for catered events.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of kitchen, restaurant, café, catering, or food service experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic cash handling and point-of-sale experience preferred.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to frequently lift 25 pounds and perform physical tasks such as moving tables, chairs, and catering equipment.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends.
