COMPENSATION: $26.40 – $31.68, Home Office Grade 4

THE OPPORTUNITY

YES Prep needs a dynamic Junior Accountant with a robust set of experiences, to make our mission a reality. As a YES Prep employee, you will achieve jaw-dropping results, create pathways to opportunity for our students, and build transformative relationships.

To put it simply, you will combine technical accounting expertise with strategic financial analysis to support organizational growth and operational excellence. You will oversee key accounting processes, deliver insightful financial reporting and special project analyses, and partner with campus and Central Office leaders to drive informed decision-making, strengthen financial performance, and ensure sound financial stewardship.

THE ROLE

When you join the YES Prep team, some of the work and responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining the general ledger: preparing and posting journal entries for payroll accruals, accounts payable accruals, adjustments and transactions related to credit card receipts and fees;
• Reviewing and analyzing bank accounts and service charges;
• Conducting financial analysis: producing analysis of historical and projected financial information and presenting analysis to management to facilitate budgeting and decision-making;
• Analyzing, preparing, and distributing periodic special project reports;
• Coordinating financial performance dialogue with campus leadership and leaders of Home Office teams in relation to special project reporting;
• Assisting with financial compliance reporting;
• Assisting with maintaining the chart of accounts;
• Executing construction and fixed asset accounting;
• Additional duties as assigned

THE MUST HAVES

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, professional experience
• 1-3 years in financial accounting and reporting responsibility
• Ability to work outside of normal hours and on weekends

THE NICE TO HAVES

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or finance from an accredited four-year college or university

• Experience with GAAP reporting
• Knowledge of non-profit accounting and public sector finance
• Public education business and finance experience, preferred
• Experience with Tyler Munis
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and initiatives at once
• Ability to exercise excellent judgment in decision-making.

• Compensation – This position is a non-exempt, hourly position; offers commensurate with experience.

• Health and Supplemental Insurance – A $0 monthly medical option or a $24 monthly option that includes $50 YES Prep Paid Health Savings Account contribution, in addition to a variety of supplemental benefits including Dental, Vision, Disability, Life, etc. Employees must work 20+ hours a week to be eligible for a full spectrum of benefits, and 10 hours a week minimum for medical benefits.
