Company Description The Golf Club at North Hampton well established semi-private golf club located in Fernandina Beach, FL. We offer an Arnold Palmer designed golf course with elevations and attributes which distinquish it from most other golf courses in northern Florida. The club is in the midst of a rivigoration reorganization shifting to delivering a higher end golf course product and customer experience. Our objective is to provide the highest value semi-private golf experience in the greater northern Jacksonville locale and establish the club as a "go to" track for golfers looking to enjoy a great golf track supported by our team delivering a superior customer experience.
Role Description This roles requires a unique balance of hospitality excellence, financial adaptability, superlative relationship management, and innovative business development acumen. You will have to simultaneously satisfy dues-paying members who expect exclusivity and daily-fee public players who drive sales volume. Having the modern day skills of leveraging social media to derive and sustain new customers will be critical.
In particular -
Dual-Customer Relationship Managemen Skills. The ability to alternate seamlessly between treating public players like valuable retail customers and treating members like elite owners of the club.
High Emotional Intelligence (EQ. Exceptional skill in mediating friction, such as when a member feels crowded out of a premium tee time by a public group. Also being able to navigate a matrix organization of direct and indirect reports to deliver a seamless customer experience.
High On-Course Visibility. Maintaining an active, approachable physical presence around the facility so that members feel heard and the public feels welcomed. Sustained continous engagement with the department heads and staff to ensure a seamless integrated customer experience.
Revenue Optimization, Financial Acumen, & Yield Management Capabilities. The expertise to utilize our technologies to dynamically price public tee times to maximize course utilization without diluting the member-preferred peak hours.
F&B Adaptability. Strong competency in overseeing Food and Beverage operations
Budgeting/Financial Reporting and Tracking. Collaborate with the corporate CFO to build and manage to annual budgets.
Interdepartmental Synergistic Leadership. A robust understanding of all key operations, knowing how to properly align the Head Golf Professional, the Golf Course Superintendent, and kitchen staff toward shared service standards.
Patience and Culture Building. The capability to build, train, and retain a cohesive team who can execute premium hospitality standards even under heavy public volume.
Operational Agility & Adaptability/Multi-Hat Versatility. Staying highly organized and flexible enough to transition instantly from checking a financial statement to managing tournament logistics or handling a member complaint.
Tech-Savviness. Mastery over modern golf club management software and point-of-sale (POS) systems to track tee sheet availability, retail inventory, and member billing efficiently.
The high level scope of the role includes oversight of daily operations and ensuring service standards are consistently met or exceeded. Other support components of the role include budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance, including monitoring KPIs, managing expenses, and identifying opportunities for revenue growth. The General Manager will build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and vendors, handling escalated issues and ensuring a high level of satisfaction. Day-to-day tasks include leading team meetings, coordinating with corporate leadership on strategic initiatives, implementing operational processes, and ensuring compliance with company policies, safety guidelines, and relevant regulations. The General Manager will also support hiring, training, performance reviews, and ongoing coaching to develop a high-performing team.
Key Qualifications
- Proven experience in general management, operations management, or a similar leadership role, preferably in golf, hospitality, leisure, or service-oriented environments.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, P&L oversight, and the ability to interpret and act on operational and financial metrics.
- Demonstrated people leadership skills, including team building, coaching, conflict resolution, and performance management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities with internal teams, customers, and external partners.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort with technology, including office productivity tools, scheduling or POS systems, and the ability to learn new software platforms.
- Knowledge of golf operations, club management, or member-focused environments is highly beneficial but not required.
